Audio Installation

When the Somali living room installation I curated (have a look on the Somalinimo page on this website for more info) moved to Free Word Centre, I really wanted to curate it in a different way. I’d been commissioned to take over the cafe space for up to 6 months - comes to a close at the end of February. One thing I did was work in partnership with The Reading Agency and curate a reading list comprising of East African writers which was stocked in the space. I also worked really hard to record and edit a sound installation which aims to give more context of the space, the flags and the history of Greater Somalia. I worked with the Hargeisa Cultural Centre to source 70s/80s/90s Somali poems and songs which I’ve included and translated part of. I’m really proud of it and want it to be enjoyed so please feel free to have a listen.
